Lore Lindenfeld

Contact the artist:

Lore Lindenfeld's first involvement with textiles and design was at Black Mountain College, studying with Josef and Anni Albers. Subsequently she worked as a textile designer in New York, followed by a period of making experimental woven wallhangings. In her present work she merges textiles with graphics, transcending the boundaries of pure fiberart.

Her work is in the collections of the Newark Museum, The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, the Museum of Art and Design in New York, and in The Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian American Art Museum) in Washington, DC, where it was included in the 2005 exhibit "High Fiber".

Artist Statement:
I am intrigued with the potential of reinventing visual images of natural forms by combining the real with the imagined. Branches of a tree are transformed, rising above a quiet, flat background. The merging elements of drawing and stitching bring the two elements together.
