Artist Statement:
I believe that art is about the object as related to space. Since I began painting, my perception has changed from positive shapes and negative space to dark matter to dark energy.

To portray this active space, I use layers of watercolor or Japanese sheer paper. I add colored pencil or Sumi-e ink marks laid as arcs to show energy movement. Sometimes I add doorways to indicate entrances to more spaces or I add flesh colored lines that represent figures embedded in the space.

To create a painting that is in touch with current reality, I listen to Physicists and participate in the world. Then I move back to the studio where I play with this data I've collected and find the correct color, medium and composition to share it by creating a visual form.

The viewer, of course, brings his or her own perceptions to the work.
